I mentor students in all areas of study and teach a course in prior learning assessment. I also teach in the areas of college writing, communication for professionals, proposal writing, creative writing, and literature. I have designed many online courses and created online textbooks (open educational resources) for some of those courses. I coordinate a program for employees of a major non-profit organization. I am usually involved in a special project; projects have ranged from co-creating writing resources to co-creating a competency-based course for adult learners. I received a national Sloan-C Award for Excellence in Online Teaching, a SUNY Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Teaching, and the following ESC awards: James William & Mary Elizabeth Hall Award for Innovation, Excellence in Mentoring award, Susan H. Turben Chair in Mentoring.
