I had the pleasure of graduating from SUNY Empire State College in 1992 and went on to New York University to earn my Master's in Social Work. I have worked with agencies assisting people and their families who have developmental and intellectual challenges in their lives. From residential counselor to case manager to family therapist, it has been a great way to make a positive difference in peoples' lives. Currently I am a part-time mentor with SUNY Empire and in private practice as a couples and family counselor. My work is informed by up to date research from sociology, psychology and human development, gender and cultural studies. In addition to knowing how to have a helpful conversation with therapy clients and understand human behavior, I think it is important to bring in a broad background of knowledge about the communities and the cultures with which we interact. This is reflected in the studies I offer at SUNY Empire.
