Joanne Knapp-Elvidge is an Associate Department Chair, Lecturer, and Mentor for the School of Human Services at SUNY Empire State College. She received her Bachelor's Degree in Community and Human Services and her Master's Degree of Arts; concentration in Family Development from SUNY Empire State College. Prior to transitioning full time to ESC, she was an Adjunct for Corning Community College and ESC for 17 years. Her professional background further includes 38-years of working within various aspects of the human service field. She has an extensive background working with with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, working with children, Adult Education, case management services and oversight of programs and holding management and leadership positions. Outside of her professional responsibilities, Joanne enjoys spending time with her family and engages in many community events. She is currently on the Chemung County Habitat for Humanity Board of Directors and is one of the organizers of the Annual Thomas L. Knapp, Sr., Free Thanksgiving Dinner which raises funds to purchase Christmas gifts for families in need.
