Norine Masella

Norine Masella joined the faculty as Assistant Professor of Nursing and Allied Health in July 2017. She currently works in both the Nursing and Allied Health programs at SUNY Empire State College, and is pursuing doctoral studies at the University at Buffalo. In addition to teaching online courses and mentoring students, Ms. Masella participates in outreach and recruitment for BS in Allied Health students and serves on departmental and college-wide committees.

Ms. Masella's clinical background is in pediatrics, including pediatric critical care, discharge planning, public health, and home care. She earned a Master's Degree as a Parent-Child Clinical Nurse Specialist (1994) and a Bachelor of Science Degree with a major in Nursing from Hartwick College (1982). She has been a nurse educator since 1992, teaching pediatric classroom and clinical content in a hospital-based associate degree program, then teaching medical-surgical and pediatric nursing at a community college beginning in 2008, and subsequently moved to a private college in 2015. She has taught at the Associate, Bachelor, and Master Degree level. Ms. Masella has experience in curriculum development for traditional and online courses, and has served on various departmental and college-wide committees in several institutions. In 2019, she received the Excellence in Education Award from the Tau Kappa at-Large Chapter of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. Ms. Masella is a Certified Academic Nurse Educator through the National League for Nursing, and has presented at local, national, and international conferences.
